1/2 cup whole milk
1/2 cup half & half cream
4 large egg yolks
3 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Heat milk and half & half to scalding in small sauce pan.
Whisk yolks, sugar, and vanilla together in a mixing bowl.
Slowly ladle hot milk mixture to egg mixture whisking continually to keep from curdling.
Return to sauce pan over low heat and stir until thickened.
Serve warm or cold over apple crisp.
